Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. If you have had such symptoms only first time, I would suggest you not to worry about asthma at present. In asthma, usually patients have frequent or constant symptoms of cough, breathlessness, chest tightness, etc which may improve and worsen over long periods.

2. If you have such symptoms repeatedly or frequently or seasonal, I would suggest you an investigation called "spirometry with post-bronchodilator study" which is important to diagnose asthma. Usually pulmonologists and allergists perform such investigation.

3. Deflazacort is an oral corticosteroid which controls inflammation (akin to "swelling" in common language) of the airways and thus improves breathlessness and other symptoms. It is preferred in severe symptoms.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health and a very good recovery ahead.

Thank you & Regards.

Hello
As you mentioned that you are having cough and breathlessness from one week . From this history of illness ( only symptoms cough and breathlessness ) , it is very difficult to predict that you are having asthma or not having .
However , these symptoms may be due to some allergic bronchitis or rhinitis because these allergic condition also causes cough and breathlessness ( mild degree ).
Deflazacort 12 mg is steroid and may help to some extent but not a treatment.
When such case visit I prescribe them to take montelukst+ bambutwerol tablet once or twice in day depending on condition and severity of symptoms .
Usually patient respond at once .
You can also take dextromethophan +chlorpheniramine maleat+menthol syrup as required .
Hope this will help you .
Good luck.
