Does Border Line FBS & RBS Suggest Diabetes?

hello,i am 42 years female 5 in height, 62 kls.actually iam not diabetic patient i used to monitor also my fbs and my rbs,but sometimes its coming border line, one month ago my RBS was 5.5, but yesterday i was surprise my RBS was 188 mg/dl i check my urine sugar it was negative.should i consider my self diabetic? please help me thanks

Hello,
there is not enough information to establish the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. Diagnosing diabetes requires fasting lab blood sugar test 126mg/dL or higher or a random blood sugar test equal to or above 200mg/dL with symptoms of hyperglycemia or blood sugar equal to or higher than 200mg/dL 2 hours after ingestion of 75 grams of glucose (oral glucose tolerance test). Glycosylated Hemoglobin testing for diagnosis is controversial. Since you had no sugar in urine it's rather unlikely that you had some sustained blood sugar elevation, although you could have diabetes with mild fasting glucose elevations and no glucose int the urine. An oral glucose tolerance test would give you a definite answer about diabetes.
