Does Blowing My Nose Too Hard Cause Perforated Ear Drum?

I am recovering from ear infection with fluid behind my ear drum. Yesterday, I held my nose and blew lightly. Suddenly felt a gush of wind coming out of my blocked ear. After that, I dont feel blocked for the day. There was no pain. Would blowing my nose like this cause perforation of my ear drum?

Hello,

Yes, it is possible due to transmission of pressure through eustachian tube to middle ear. Once again please check your tympanic membrane status by endoscopy. Sometimes, small perforations may heal itself. Also check for any ear discharge. Avoid excessive blowing of nose. Please consult with your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
