Does Blood Sugar Levels Of 200 During Pregnancy Cause Fetal Harm?

Hello I am almost 18 weeks pregnant and type one diabetic. I have been watching my blood sugar very closely and have a a1c of 5.8. I check my bs one hour after meals and correct if it is above 140. I have noticed that even if my bs is below 140 one hour after meal, two or three hours later it will sometimes go up to 200 plus. Am i putting my baby at harm?

HI

Uncontrolled Blood sugars in pregnancy has bad effect both on pregnancy and baby . It can cause your baby to grow big ( not good thing ) and even cause diabetes in the baby .

Blood sugar monitoring in pregnancy doesn't involve only 1 hour after meal , you should also check 2 hour post breakfast , 2 hours post lunch and 2 hours post dinner and adjust medications to keep it under 130-140
