Does Ants On Disposed Sanitary Pads Suggest Presence Of Diabetes?
I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy with my second child. After the delievery, i had to constantly check my blood sugar level and everything turned out fine, but recently, i found ants on my disposed pads from my menstrual cycle. what does this mean? do i have type 2 diabetes?
Dear Madam, When we take a look at the history of diabetes people used to diagnose diabetes by seeing ants near freshly passed urine. That testing was done before advent of blood sugar tests. Now we are living in modern era so why believe on ants. Let's believe on the machinery we have developed. Ants are not only attracted to sugars but also to blood stains in the menstrual pads. So my humble opinion is that you get a Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT 3intervals) done along with HbA1c. With this we will be able to tell you the current status of sugars and also regarding chances of developing diabetes in the near future. Hope i have answered your query. Hope to see your reports soon Dr.Riyaz Sheriff
