The active ingredient in Androanagen tablets is Saw Palmetto extract. It is plant derived and inhibits the enzyme 5 alpha reductase present in the outer root sheath of the hair follicle. This prevents the conversion of testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone, which is the main active ingredient responsible for hair thinning and receding hair line in males (Androgenetic Alopecia).
Side effects that may be encountered in a few patients are decrease in the sexual drive and decreased libido. These side effects are totally reversible.
In addition to saw palmetto extract I would suggest that you also begin using minoxidil solution 5% twice daily at the hair roots. Minoxidil is a hair growth promoter and is US FDA approved for androgenetic alopecia.
