Does An Anti-rabies Vaccine Make One Safe From Future Dog Bites?

I was bitten by a puppy last Sunday, July 17 at around noon. The bite was at my left hand, tip of my fingertip. Actually, the puppy, about more or less one month old did not intentionally bit me. I was feeding her and while pushing the food aside, accidentally chewed my finger. I wash my wound immediately with soap and water and pressed it so that blood would come off. By the way, I am 5 months and 2 weeks pregnant. I have a shot of anti-rabies last July 19 because according to the attending doctor it is safe. Is it really safe? Please help.
