HI Doc, My wife dygonised with PCOS and Haemorrhogic cyst and our gyne suggests for regestrone for the 5 days course (15 pills), is it correct to follow this procedure, will it be considered a treatment of the above mentioned problem, do you have any reference of such treatment.
I can understand your concern. Regestrone is a synthetic progesterone tablet which is used to delay periods, manage heavy & painful periods, endometriosis and symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome.
As your doctor as prescribed you it, it will induce menstruation in 2-3 days after completing the course of the medicine but next month the problem will be there. If your wife is diagnosed with multiple ovarian cysts, long term therapy Metformin or birth control pills may be needed.
I would advise you to visit your doctor again and discuss if your wife has multiple cysts in ovaries and if long term therapy is needed.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
