Does Puritans Pride Turmeric Curcumin Cause Itchy Rashes On The Neck?

I have been taking a Puritans Pride Tumeric Curcumin 1000 mg w/5mg Bioperine included. For a couple months I took two per day, then went to ten per wk. After six months I developed an itchy rash on neck , chest & upper arms. How long does it stay in my system? Would a two wk. break periodically be enough to keep the rash at bay? I'm really missing the positive effects on my arthritis during this current break.

1. The product which you have mentioned is prescribed for psoriatic arthritis [as it has powerful anti-inflammatory properties], and yes turmeric [the ingredient circumin] does cause an allergic rash in some patients, so my advice is to stop turmeric for a couple of days and see whether the rash is clearing or not.

PS. do check with a Dermatologist to exclude any other cause of your rash [since the rash has developed after 6 months of taking the drug]

2. Also, do note that turmeric [circumin] do elevate the INR in patients on Warfarin [anticoagulant], so avoid taking it. [avoid taking it with clove, garlic, ginseng, ginkgo]

- As it lowers blood sugar [avoid taking it with antidiabetic medications] as may cause dangerous hypoglycemia.

3. As it is a health supplement thus doesn't necessarily comes under FDA approval, thus talk to your family doctor about whether turmeric is safe for you or not, don't take unnecessary risks.
