OBGYN, Gynecologic Oncology 's  Response
Hello,

Estradiol patches are a good way of avoiding side effects of estrogens that occur when they are taken orally. Sometimes allergic reaction or intolerance at the start of a new treatment may cause swelling. It may be associated with rash, itching, and breathlessness etcetera.

Please review with your doctor to check that there is no other associated condition that is contributing to the swelling. If you are not tolerating the patches, then an alternative birth control method can be advised.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sabina Hussain
