Do I Need To Stop Vyvanse While Trying To Conceive?
I am 32 years old, 5 8, 180lbs .... my question is I am trying to start a family and I am taking Vyvanse 50mg daily and have been for over 2 1/2 years now, do I need to stop while trying to concieve? Because I don t want to get pregnant and go 2 weeks or so before I miss a period and know that 2wks worth of that medicine was going into the baby?? I have an appt. with my doctor next week so should I discuss with him other options?
It is preferable to avoid amphetamines and other stimulants when trying to conceive. The data available from the studies conducted on women trying to conceive whilst on regular amphetamines does not show any clear fetal anomalies. However, the data does suggest a slight increased in congenital heart defects in babies born to women taking medication for ADHD during pregnancy. It is worth discussing with your treating physician the possible side-effects of Vyvanse use during pregnancy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
