Did Smoking Weed Cause Anxiety Attack And Numbness All Over My Body?

Hi, I have smoked weed one time last year (bad decision, I know, I just wanted to experience it one time) and I had an anxiety attack during the high. Since then I've had tingling/numbness all over my body, it feels as if my sense of touch is delayed and distorted with static.. I've had periods of ups and downs.. But I'm really getting tired of it. It's not normal numbness because it only appears when I touch/rub my hands over objects, when I repeat the movement or just lay still, the numb feeling dissapears. Please what could it be?

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Cannabis is very commonly associated with perceptual disturbances, anxiety symptoms and psychosis and it is not unusual to find people who have developed anxiety disorder or psychotic illness after just a single use of cannabis. However, if you are having just numbness and tingling but no anxiety, then just treatment for anxiety may or may not help you. I would suggest that you see a psychiatrist and discuss this.

Best wishes.
