Diagnosed With Diverticulitis Attack. Having Abdominal Pains On Left Side, Low Grade Fever. Took Cipro, Ibruprofin And Flagyl. Medical Cure For This?

Hi,
I was diagnosed with diverticulitis attck about a month ago. Abdominal pains on left side, low grade fever. put on cipro and flagyl, and pains went away after a day or two. Stomach has not been the same since...Lotys of bloating and distention, fullness, but other than that felt OK. This past weekend, i started having on and off low grade fever high 99's to 100, and chills, and overall feeling unwell. Took ibruprofin. After 3 days, i do feel better today. Yesterday, when i went to the bathroom, there was a bit of blood, haven't gone since. I do also have hemmoroids, and not sure if if was a flare up due to stomach issues last few weeks. I have not had any abdominal pain, so i am wondering if this can be a flare-up of the divert, and does the pain usually follow the fever, chills, etc...Should i go back on antibiotic to fend off any looking infection?

Thanks

Hi ! I would like to know the investigation done to diagnose your case as diverticulitis ( if colonoscopy / CT scan was done ). In that case the treatment of diverticulitis ofcourse is a proper course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory, which you already had and got relief. Surgery is not always required for diverticulitis unless it gets complicated. You should go for a high roughage diet with plenty of liquids. Avoid alcohol and smoking if you do. These may prevent further attacks of diverticulitis. However, your treating doctor may advise you to go an annual check up with colonoscopy depending on the severity of your diverticulosisl.
The bleeding per rectum which got recently seems to be because of your hemorrroids. However, if it recurs then you should see your doctor for a review. Good luck.
