Diagnosed With Diabetes, Taking Glycigon, Fbs Not Lowering, Frequent Urination. What Is The Reason?

5 years back i was feeling giddy and unable to stand or walk. some medicines given by a cardiologist for 1 year did not help. then dr.sivkumar, apollo, prescribed atorvastatin 10mg+natrilix sr+ amlodipine 2.5 and things changed within a month. 3 years back i was also diagnised as having diabetes type2 and i am being given glycigon. inspite of my taking glycigon, my fbs did not come within limits and is always around 130+. i am also having frequent urination problem. since i am 78 years old, i dont know whether i have also developed prostrate gland enlargement. now my questions:1. why are both amlodipine and natrilix (both for hyper tension and b.p. control) concurrently prescribed. 2.are my diabetic symptoms result of atorvastatin as side effect and is it the reason why my fbs is not falling below 130 though it has come down from 180 to 130 3.why am i still having need to frequently urinate at 30 mts interval inspite of taking glycigon. of course i am continuing the medicines but am interested to know the reasons from knowledgable sources

Urologist 's  Response
Hallo
Thanks for your query
You are 78 years old and known patient of having Type II Diabetes and Hypertension

Your Physician has prescribed you two drugs for Hypertension. Normally physician Prescribe multiple drugs when B.P.is not under control with single drug. These drugs act at different levels and have different mode of action and that helps in bringing your B.P.under control. That has helped in your case to control your Hypertension.
2) Regarding control of your Diabetes your Fasting Blood Sugar as come down to 130 mg from 180mg.which is quite satisfactory.Atorvas is prescribed to control your cholesterol level which is always raised in Diabetes. This has nothing to do with control of sugar level. You can get your HBA1c level checked every three months to see the status of control of Diabetes
3)As regards your query about prostate enlargement your frequency of urination is due to dual factor of having Diabetes and Prostate enlargement.Pl get your Ultrasound scanning done to confirm Enlargement of prostate.which is common at this age and if so you will have to take medicines for the same Pl consult Urologist who will help you in dealing with your prostate problem.Pl remember this is the age when you are prone for all these diseases and one has to be prepared to accept it happily.
