Diabetic Retinopathy. Swelling In The Back Of Eyes. Shots Taken In Eyes. Recommendations?

I have Retnapathy. I eyes still swell in the back of my eyes. I do go to a specialist but I am searching to find something natural that can cure the swelling in the back of my eyes. They no longer bleed. I have 20/400 in left eye and 20/20 in right eye with my bi-focals. I get shots in my eyes and didn't for about 6 months. Now my doctor wants me to have a shot again in my left eye. I also have diabetes which did the damage. I am looking for a natural cure!
Can you help me? Bonnie

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Treatment for diabetic retinopathy is generally very effective in delaying or reducing vision loss but it can't cure the disease.People with diabetic retinopathy needs frequent monitoring to look for any new changes in their eyes and in general most of the retinopathy patients require repeat treatment.
As far natural therapy is concerned, currently there are no proven alternative or complementary therapies than can cure diabetes or diabetic retinopathy. It's important not to delay standard treatments to try unproven therapies.
Following are the Potential alternative therapies ....
Ginkgo
Grape seed extract
Pycnogenol (Pine bark)
If you really want to try them, you must take them by permission from your doctor, since they can cause interactions with other medications or cause some complication like bleeding.
Thanks.
