Detected Multiple Follicles In Ovaries, Prescribed Glycomet Along Contraceptive Pills, Diet Control. Can Change Medication?

Hi Doctor,
I am 26 year old engineer and is detected with mutiple follicles in both ovaries. My doctor has suggested me glycomet sr 500 twice a day, along with padmini, asmita or nevlon (my doctor alternates the prescription of the contraceptive pills each month) and diet control. From the past 4 months i am using these tablets. Though my weight reduced initially from 63 to 59 in the first two months, now it remains constant at 59. Is there anything that I can do other than weight reduction to come out of this medical condition?
Recently a doctor friend of mine told that Oosure and Krimson 35 are better medication for PCOS than Glycomet sr 500 and nevlon. Can you please suggest me if I should go for change of medicines.

Thanks a lot.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
The glycomet 500 mg ( metformine ) is a drug of choice for PCOD ( PCOS) cases and this is scientifically proven drug as far as known to me.
While krimson ( cyproterone acetate ) is used in pcos cases , but more as female hirsutism and acne cases and for weight reduction.
In my opinion weight gain is due to glucose intolerance due to pcos .
First of all get in ultrasound of both ovaries .
As diagnosis is confirmed so consult another gynecologist and get his opinion .
Weight gain as I mentioned above is due to disease ,so once treatment will show its effect you will feel better.
Oral contraceptive pills in this type of cases are for regulation of bleeding disorder & dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
Good luck. Dr. HET
