Delayed Period, Cramps, Stomach Discomfort. Negative Pregnancy Test. What May This Be?

I am a week late for my period, I already have a child who is 8 years old, but I dont remember experiencing anything like this, I have this sick feeling in my stomach , and cramping, like I m going to start my period. Ive done a home prengancy test, which came back negative. Can you help me, as to what this may actually be? Thanks

Hi,
If you are regular on your periods and are not on any contraceptives, you may repeat the pregnancy test after another week. If you want an early confirmation, you may go for the serum beta-hCG test and a trans-vaginal sonogram after consulting your gynecologist for an examination. Please have further suggestions from your doctor. Good luck.
