Could Weight Gain Be Due To Prozac?

I have gained 12 pounds in 10 mos. my diet has not changed. My MD put me on Prozac abt the time my weight gain started. I ve also been taking somnapure for sleep. I work out 3x a week. Could the meds/herbs be causing my weight gain? It seems pretty evenly distributed but moreso around my waist. I just turned 46. Thought could maybe be hormone related. I am also being treated for an underactive thyroid

Weight gain is unlikely to be associated with the use of Prozac.

Prozac is one of the most effective and safe drug used in the treatment of depression or other related disorder. The most common side effects seen with the use of Prozac include sleep disturbances, sexual dysfunctions, etc.

Weight gain in your case could be due to hypothyroidism specially if it is not treated properly. So, get the thyroid function tests done and take an opinion of your treating physician for possible adjustment of the dose for Levothyroxine.
Another possibility is use of natural products like herbs, etc may also be responsible for the weight gain.
