Could Vagal Schwannoma Be Cured Through Proton Therapy?

Is the only cure for Vagal Schwannoma, fully taking out the Vagus Nerve? I'm considering Proton therapy, but does that offer a cure with any hope and what's the cure rate with radiation? My doctor told me radiation is not a cure for it, and it would only be the surgery to remove everything more difficult later!!! Like I don't have a choice!
