Could Twisted Colon, Diverticulosis And Barium Enema Test Showing Possible Polyp Indicate Colon Cancer?
HI- i don t want to frighten myself into oblivion..but I need a heads up before my appointment. I HAD A COLONOSCOPY on 11/1/13 it could not be completed because my doctor said my colon was so too twisted. HE scheduled a barium enema that was done on 11/21/13./The results were as follows something was seen but he could not tell if it was stool,a polyp or maybe nothing. It was suggested that I wait 3 months to see if there would be a change. WELL, NEEDLESS TO SAY iI COULD NOT WAIT 3 MONTHS. I need SOMETHING DONE NOW, i have a history of diverticulosis and I am 73 years young! what do you think about this situation .I am scheduled to see a specialist who is an expert in cases such as mine. Oh I forgot to mention my dad had colon cancer..Am I wrong for thinking the worst..I am trying real hard not to..
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).
I will advise you to visit an expert Gastroenterologist who will do colonoscopy as it is must at this age especially when barium enema showed some doubts and with a positive family history of colon cancer. Twist can be present in any colon however they can be crossed easily by an expert and please undergo the procedure again under some sedation
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
