Could The Stuffy Nose, Foul Smelling Tools And Fever Be Due To Viral Infection?

My 17 month old son has had a stuffy nose, fever for 24 hours and large yellow foul smelling stool twice with 3 days in between. Could this be a virus?

He was lethargic through the fever, but now seems fine but for wanting to nurse constantly and has just had his second weird stool. Has had 2 doses of Tylenol, with tepid baths in between to keep the fever down. Never went past 102.5.

I don't want to risk him getting something else at the doctor's office with so many flus going around.

Thank you for your response.

Hi,

All the symptoms your son is having are indicating viral infection. Keep giving him :

- Tylenol for the fever
- probiotics to stabilize his intestinal flora
- lots of fluids (water, tea, juices)
- tasectan if diarrhea persists

If the symptoms will get worse (especially if fever will persist to be high), I highly suggest to send him to the pediatrician for further evaluation.

Wish fast recovery!
