Could The Severe Pain In Abdomen And GERD Be Due To Gallstones?

Hi, This is Meena.
I was under treatment of sinusitis, due to this anitibiotics I got mild gerd and hence consulted gastro. He gave me montilium-m twice daily and nexium in the morning. After 2 weeks I was ok and hence stopped it. But unfortunately I got muscle catch becoz of that i took painkillers.. Once taking painkillers I got mild irritation in my stomach and within few days I got severe stomach pain. I was put into ultrasound and found I got gallstones and one of the stone would have come out. It was confirmed by LFT and pancreas enzymes test. Now doctor advised me
to take montilium m , nexium and udiliv. udiliv twice daily for 8 weeks.

My worry is I have seen many side effects for all the above medicines, Now I completed 1 week course, should i continue this.. How to identify if I have any problem or not because of this... Please advise me..

Hi,
Thanks for posting query at HCM.

Gall stones pain is usually experienced at right upper quadrant.
if you felt this pain:

1.You may continue Motilium for 5 days and then stop if no vomiting/nausea.
2. Nexium maybe continued for another 2 to 3 weeks.
3. Udiliv , as advised, maybe taken for 8 weeks.
4. weight reduction and low-fat diet is also recommended.

Repeat ultrasound after 2 to 3 months.

Medical therapy is an option for gallstones , though a vast number of surgeons around the globe prefer removal of gall bladder- surgical intervention. Medical therapy is useful if mild symptoms, stones are smaller in size (
hope to answer your concern.
wish you good and sound health.
