Could The Continuous Use Of Antibiotics For Eye Infection, Cough And Cold Be Concerned?

MY DAUGHTER IS 2.5 yrs old...initially she was having infection in eyes which was cured through antibiotic and eye drops then after few days she was suffering from severe cough doctor added antibiotic and alaspan ag and again now after 15 days the cough cold infection..now i am giving her antibiotic ...please advice

I can understand your concern.

If that recurrent cough is because of bacterial infection then antibiotics may be of value. But if that cough is because of some other cause then they are of no use. First the cause of cough should be identified before starting any treatment. Various investigations like x ray chest, total blood counts, mantoux etc help to identify the cause. You should consult your doctor at the earliest for a complete physical examination. Your doctor may order certain investigations based on the physical examination findings. Further management depends on the diagnosis made. So consult your doctor for a examination to identify the cause.
