Could Sinking Feeling In Chest, Loneliness And Heavy Heartedness Be Due To Emotional Stress?

I get a sinking feeling in my chest every night. I believe it may have to do with emotions more than anything else. But just feeling very low, heavy hearted, and alone. This has been happening for as long as I can remember. I would like to get rid of it. Is it at all a medical condition?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

It is quite possible that you having the symptoms you have mentioned because of psychological conditions. You might be suffering from depression or a milder variant of it- dysthymia. It is a treatable condition. I would suggest you to consult a psychiatrist. Medications which will be antidepressants like escitalopram or sertraline will help you. You can also start exercising daily. That will help you feel better. Relaxation exercises together with your medications will help in recovering.

Best wishes.
