Could Ringing In Ears Be Caused By Neurontin?

My husband is a very active 70 year old, but, over the last 6-7 months, he has a ringing in his ears. After seeing our family Dr, she sent him to a ENT. That Dr said it was his age & his loss of hearing. She sent him to get hearing aids. Our Pharmacist said it could be from his Neurontin that he has taken for years. is that possible? He says it sounds like a roaring fan.

Hi.
Thanks for your query. Neuronitis is one of the reasons.

Read and understood the history related to your husband, 70 years, very active but for the last 7 months he has developed tinnitus of the variety of 'roaring fan''. Met the family Doctor, ENT Specialist and the Pharmacist says it can be neuronitis.
Since when one started believing the Pharmacist, he is nit a Doctor.
Well, if there would have been neuronitis, there would have been vertigo and other symptoms too.
Tinnitus at this can be due to the following :
Age related as your ENT has suggested, but this is always secondary to some arteriovenous malformation, hypertension, strong arteries rubbing over the internal nerves and so on.
Another reason can be an acoustic trauma of any nature which is difficult to remember.
Well. the best policy is to get investigated and treated, use hearing aid if it suits you and get adjusted to the new sounds which may help reduce or alleviate his problems
