How Can Constipation Be Managed While On Neurontin?

I really like neurontin. I live w/much pain. Take Oxycodone 10 four times a day. I m 86 yrs. old. Take Movantik for opiod constipation. Works great but if I take Neurontin to help me sleep, I have horrid constipation & the Movantik will not work. It is definitely the Neurontin that causes it because if I stop the neurontin, then Movantik works again. I even tried taking 2 Senna or dulcolax & they do not help.

Hello,

Opioid and Neurontin causes constipation especially on prolonged use. Movantik Naloxegol and it is designed for opiod induced constipation and it may not work for neurontin induced constipation. You can take laxatives like lactulose or newer drugs like Prucalopride for constipation and smoothen your bowel movements. Include more fiber rich foods in your diet.

Hope I have answered your query.
