Could Pruritus And Diarrhea Be Due To Food Allergy?

I have general pruritis (scalp to feet) and I notice that it gets worse as I get closer to my menses. I also have IBS and have been able to control is some with probiotics. I'm wondering if these are two different problems or if I have a food allergy causing/exacerbating both.

Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make following suggestions to you:

1. Yes, it is possible that general itching as well as IBS symptoms could be linked to food allergy or at least some food component in diet.

Common foods causing allergies are - milk & milk products, peanut, wheat, egg, soy, tree nuts (almonds, cashew, pistachio, etc), fish, shell fish, etc.

Some preservatives, colors, etc in foods also can cause allergy like symptoms.

2. As you have symptoms that worse closer to menses, I would also think of possibility painkillers or stress worsening both itching and IBS symptoms.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards.
