Could Ketones In Urine Cause Stomach Flu And Vomiting?

My 5 year old son had the stomach flu (vomited 15-20 times) 3 days ago... Has been getting better but then vomited again today. I took him to his pediatrician and he had ketones in his urine (which I suspected) but also 1+ bilirubin? She didn t seem alarmed but what is the bilirubin from?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

He may have some viral infection that causes vomiting.
Ketone in urine is common in vomiting and dehydration condition so don't worry about that. He has some bilirubin in urine.

He should go for serum bilirubin level and SGPT level once.
Then he should take treatment accordingly.

Take large amount of fluid orally. It will help in fast recovery.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
