Could Hyperthyroidism Cause Fatigue, loss Of Appetite And Anxiety?

my brother -in law is in the hospital. he presented with classic hyperthyroidism symptoms...weight loss of appx 70 lbs since april, fatigue, loss of appetite, tremors, extreme perspiration, anxiety, confusion dry itchy skin and abdominal pain. he now has increased liver enzymes .could all this be related to the hyperthyroidism or could he possibly have non alcoholic fatty liver disease?

Hi thanks for contacting HCM....

According to history yes it seems to be hyperthyroidism symptoms .......
So it should be ruled out first .....
Investigate with .....
-Serum TSH
-Serum t4
-serum t3(if needed )

If he has hyperthyroidism than t4 will high and tsh will be low ....
If present than treated accordingly with propranolol and propylthiouracil .....

Second sometime some of such symptoms
Could be by liver problems .....
So for that investigate with liver enzymes study , PT , serum albumin etc.....

You can post follow up report for more advise ......

Hope your concern solved ...

Take care ....
