Could Flat Stools Be Due To Simvastatin?

Hi I'm on simvastatin 40mg and was wondering if maybe it could be causing me to have flat stool. I've never had this problem before and was wondering if it could be from this. I'm also on meds. for high blood pressure and I have anxiety. I'm only 21 and this is really starting to worry me because when I looked it up it said it could be a sign of colon cancer. Once in a great while it's normal but barely ever anymore. I've been on them for about 3 months and this started about 2 months ago. Also sometimes when it is normal which isn't often it's like a cone shape. I'm sorry I know this is disgusting but I just wanted to see if anyone would know anything about this so I can stop worrying about it. I'm going to see my doctor in about a week so he can test my liver because of the medicine so I can ask him then but I just want to know if it's something I should be worried about. I would really appreciate any help, thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The changes in the stools’ shape and texture are most commonly related to the diet. Possible causes for flat stools may be due to hemorrhoids that is partial closing of the anus or polyps or mass in the rectum, etcetera.

Other possibilities like ulcerative colitis, hemorrhoids, BPH, Crohn disease, anal fissures, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, rectal ulcers, etcetera.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your gastroentrologist who will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
