Could Breathing Difficulty Be Indicative Of Cardiac Problems?
I have trouble breathing when I lay flat and shortness of breath with performing even the smallest of tasks - is this a cardiac issue or a pulmonary problem? I am 36 years old and overweight, but I do not have a history of asthma or any breathing problems but I did have a murmer and irregular heart beat as a small child and a family istory of heart diesase - - my father had congestive heart failure.
Your symptoms are classicaly suggestive of Congestive Heart Failure which may be due to any cause. As you have reported that you had some heart ailment in your childhood, that appears to be the most probable cause behind it.
If you may get a blood test done to estimate your NT-proBNP level that may very well suggest that your symptoms are due to Congestive Heart Failure if found at higher levels.
Get yourself checked by a cardiologist and an ECG and an Echo must be done to assess the exact disorder.
