Could Bleeding After 9th Day Of Intercourse Be Due To Implantation Or Side Effect Of I-pill?

Hi. I am 24 years old. I'm not into regular sex but I had unprotected intercourse with my fiancé on the 7th day from when my periods started. I bled as much as a spot that day. I took an ipill approximately 52 hours later. I have a healthy menstrual cycle of 28-30 days on an average. But I witnessed blood flow on the 9th day from when I had sex. I need to know if it can be due to implantation (as I read through few websites) or it is a side effect of the i pill ? I had taken i pill twice before but that was more than a year ago and I did not witness any bleeding. This is the first time I had unprotected sex.

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this. It is very unlikely for you to become pregnant on the 7th day after the start of your menses. This is simply because there is no ovum that can be fertilised by the sperm cells. This bleeding is most likely due to hormonal changes caused by the Ipill which works by distorting hormonal balance to prevent adequate conditions for pregnancy. This bleeding is most likely caused by the Ipill rather than pregnancy.

Please, if you do not plan to become pregnant anytime soon, consider adopting and using a more reliable method of contraception. Ask your doctor if this is something you want to do.

I hope this addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for using our services and please feel free to ask for clarifications if need be. I wish you the best of health.
