Could Any Of The Antibiotics, Painkillers And Nasal Decongestant Spray Cause The Positive Result For THC?

I tested positive for THC but I do not use Marijuana. I have been on antibiotics(amoxicillin) and drinking chamomile tea as well as taking pain pm, cold and flu hot drink, nasal decongestant spray, and omeprazole for ulser. Would any of these cause the positive result?

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through a difficult situation. Urine drug screens are usually very specific for the drug being screened for. Drug tests for cannabis look for a specific chemical metabolite of cannabis called THC.

So, other prescription medication like amoxycillin, pain killers, decongestants, etc. do not cause a false positive in the drug test. If you have a discrepancy in the test results, I would advise you to discuss this issue further with the doctor who ordered the drug screen.

Wish you all the best.

Regards,
