Is Marinol An Effective Muscle Relaxant?

Hi I am on musle relaxers and Norco after 5 hip eplacements and 2 dislocated hips in the last four months. I am allergic to NSAIDS. I hate the feeling I get from the drugs I am on. My doctor precribed me Marinol but I am afraid to try it. Do you think it can help? Thank you, Deidre

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

This drug is usually used to treat nausea and vomiting. It is not a muscle relaxer.

I don't think that it will help in your clinical situation. Instead, I would recommend using baclofen or Flexeril as a muscle relaxant.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
