Continuous Slight Cough, Cold After Intake Of 2 Sets Of Antibiotics For Flu. On Methotrexate And Trying To Stop Prednisone With Lowering Doses. RA Under Control. Suggest
I have been on methotrexate and prednisone for about 8 months. mx started 15mg once a week increased to 20mg
3 months ago. Prednisone started 7.5mg, decreased to 5mg and now on 2mg (trying to stop this med) since mx increased. My RA is going fine no flare ups so far and feel good except for some weight gain and tiredness.
However, 2 months ago I had the flu pretty bad, needed 2 sets of antibiotics to recover and since have not been able to get rid of a slight cough which gets worse in the cold weather. I also seem to find that I feel the cold much more than I used to. Is this related to methotrexate?
Another question, is 2 - 3 glasses of wine on a special occasion on the one day okay?

As you have told that you are a patient of RA , on methotrexate+prednisolone, had severe pneumonia , slight continous cough
Following are your plausible causes
1. i hope you are not take any hypertension medication like , ACE inhibitors that are famous for dry continous cough
2.methotrexate is famous for lower lobe lung fibrosis and dry continous cough, get spirometry + chest ct to confirm it
WINE IF FINE , IF YOU ARE DOING LESS THAN 5 GLASSES/WEEK(SOCIAL DRINKING IS ACCEPTABLE)
