Constant Back Pain. MRI Showed Mild Degenerative Disc And Facet Disease In Lumbar Area, T12 Bulge, Pinched Nerve At C6 With Carpel Tunnel. No Help From Shots. Help

I have had x-rays, CT scans, an EMG in the cervical area and arms, MRI’s and just this week a total body bone scan. I suffer constant back pain in the lower thoracic and lumbar areas. My MRI showed that I have mild degenerative disc and facet disease with spurs in the lumbar area, a bulge at T12 with spurs and the EMG showed a pinched nerve at C6 and carpel tunnel in both hands. I have had steroid shots and PRP in the lower lumbar area along with 6 weeks of PT with no success. I am at a loss as what can be causing me so much pain because it doesn’t seem like I have anything going on that should cause this much pain. Can you help?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us
I understand you have back pain . These symptoms are part of lumbar disc degeneration with PIVD where the nerves get compressed by the protruded disc.
There are several treatment modalities with medicines, physiotherapy and with injections in the back called epidural injections and root/facet blocks.
If you don't get better with these treatment ,I suggest you undergo surgery, by which the nerves are decompressed by removing the protruded disc (discectomy), which would significantly improve your symptoms

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
