In congestive heart failure it becomes harder and harder to breath without effort. The back pressure from the lungs will in time wear the heart out and it will stop. With the kind of meds they have now it will not be a bad way to go. Act as above and have joy in the time you have left with her. You are in my thoughts.

My brother-in-law diagnosed with conjestive heart failure on 6-29- at ER, they gave him? some kind of shot because of the extreme edema in his legs and feet and wanted him to stay in hospital, he refused ( from old school if you can t pay don t do it) ANyway, on Friday he went to his regular doctor who prescribed a pill to eliminate the liquids from lungs I think, its not working, Today, I am very concerned his legs and feet are very swolllen, he is vomiting blood and will not go to ER, insists on waiting until his dr. appt. on Friday. Can someone call an ambulance for someoone else even if they refuse to go to the hospital, I know he won tlet the paramedics take him.......Just so worried and don t know what to do. He is 77 yrs. old and such an wonderful person. He also won t apply for medicare, I am pretty sure he would qualify. I had undergone a 2D echo its report is Post PPI, No RWMA, Normal LV systolic function, grade II V diastolic dysfunction, mild MR, Moderate TR, Mild PAH. XRay chest shows cardiac size Normal, Biateral lung field Normal, raight costophrenic angle blunted. blood reports are normal. I have high systolic BP goes high in the evening 165/72 or so. Doctor, My father( 60yrs old) got his health chek up done last month, where his ECG showed NORMAL LV SYSTOLIC FUNCTION LVEF. 60% DIASTOLIC DYSFUNCTION and a week ago he got his TMT done, which said NEGATIVE FOR INDUCIBLE ISCHEMIA AT GIVEN WORKLOAD . But today morning all of a sudden he felt pain( ranging between mild and severe) in the left side of the chest and weakness accompanied by sweating and numbness throughout his body. And he complains of left arm pain once in a while. He is not obese, not diabetic, does exercise and don t have any bad habits.
46 ur old female s/p left breast ca in 1998. Treated with 650 of adriamycin. Was. Admitted to hosotal on 1/25 with cardiomyopathy, ef of 20 and pulmonary edema. I had been treated for pneumonia for a solid month prior to this emergent incident. Now taking Coreg, aldactone, zestril, asp, and digoxin. Removed 7 liters of fluid. Repeat echo 13 days later ef still 20. Doubled dosage of zestril. What do you think my prognosis is? I am able to take care of adl without help.

He is 6'5" and weighs about 360. He knows he needs to lose weight, but even with a healthy diet of fish, veggies and no salt, he is still heavy. He rides a recumbent bicycle about 3 miles a day.
