hi Stephen. I am from New Zealand and i know exactly when i conceived and would like to know how early it is to have an ultrasound??I conceived on the 30th dec and it is now the 21st jan. the date of my last period stared on the 14th dec.The the nurse said that the scan needed to show the fetus and umbilical cord before they can proceed with a termination. I would like to know when this can be seen on the ultrasound as I would like to avoid needing to go back again.thanks Thanks
Hello, well from the history you have given, gestational sac can be visible by transvaginal scan as early as 5 weeks, if you have regular cycles.....If you are planning to terminate your pregnancy, you can consult your doctor as early as possible, because in early weeks medical termination has success rate of nearly 90%...The more the delay the chances of surgical termination like evacuation increases....Hope i was helpful to you. ....
