Child Suffering From Cough, Cold. No Relief From Antibiotics, Bronchodilators. Also, Prescribed Steroid. Discontinue?
Hi, My child is 2years old having 11kg weight. he is suffering from Cough and cold from last 10 days. Our doctor has prescribed Antibiotic - Potassium clavulanate, bronchodilator mucolytic, levodropropizine chlorpheniramine maleate, the all medicine is continuing from last 10 days but there is no effect...Now our doctor has prescribed steroids also on Monday evening ..but today cough and cold increased tremendously. please suggest whether this steriod is working or we should stop it.

I think the child might be suffering from some kind of nasobronchial allergy, it will be better if you start him on Monteleukast 4mg orally along with nebulizers(steroid plus bronchodilator) twice a day.
