Child Passing Yellow, Watery Stools After Every Feed. Worried
Hello Doctor, My son is 7 months old and since a week he is passing yellowish, totally watery stools after every feed or meal that he takes. His stools also seem to have some whitish particles. We are bit worried as to what this could be. We also find that his genital regions are bit reddish. Please help and prescribe something for him to recover.

Hello
Passing frequent stool in this age is mostly due to viral infection. Due to gastrocolic reflex he is passing stool after each feed. Give him ORS frequently after each stool. If he is reluctant to take ORS give him plain water. Anyhow you have to maintain the hydration of the baby. Give him Zinc Syr 5 ml once a day, Enterogermina respule 1 daily for 3 days. Continue breast feed and also semisolid food, as he is 7 months old. Look for any recent change in feeding. Keep the perianal area dry by gentle wiping after each stool. Apply rashfree ointment locally.
Watch for decreased urinary frequency, decraesed oral intake, blood in stool, mucus in stool.
If you notice any of these consult your doc immediately.
