Child Having Severe Throat Infection, fever, Given Augmentin, Difficulty In Swallowing, Suggested Azitromycin. Consult ENT?
Hi, my daughter has a severe throat infection and fever along with that. We gave her augmentin for 3 days but without any relief......she now has difficulty in swallowing. The Paediatrician has now suggested azitromycin 200 mg....we have given one dose today afternoon.....but she has not had any relief.....would it be better to consult an ENT specialist now and if yes then who is the best in bangalore (marathalli area)? also she is not taking anything as she is not able to swallow.....what should we give her to eat?
Hi, Your pediatrician has given best antibiotics for her upper respiratory tract infection. Now as he prescribed Azithromicin, wait for 2 days as any antibiotic takes some time to work. Give her plenty of water, light diet like milk, rice, Khichdi etc. Give her anti-inflammatory medicine as well. If there is no improvement then consult any ENT specialist and get her examined. Ok and take care.
