Child Has Loose Motion And Fever. Prescribed Crocin And ORS. Should Medicine For Loose Motion Be Given?

My 1.5 months old girl baby has loose motion 6 times from yesterday 3.00 am till today 3.00 am. Doctor has given only crocin tablets for fever and ORS. But baby seems to be very weak now. Doctor told that he will not prescribe drug for stopping motion now as it Is not advisable to give medicine for stopping motion in 1.5 months baby. Please suggest. Baby weight is 3.46 kgs.

Thanks

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi Sudhakar,

Thank you for your query.

I will agree with the treating doctor. If your daughter is being breast fed then I will not worry about the motions. However if she is being bottle fed then you need to be observant and cautious. She should be passing urine at regular intervals and continue having feeds. In case urine output reduces or she goes off feeds then you need to take her to the doctor.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.
