hello

now you should rehydrate the child with ors......frequent loose motions will cause loss of water from the body along with electrolytes........so oral rehydration therapy helps to replenish the same

normally we prescribe zinc and probiotics which may help in treating the condition

look and monitor for signs of dehydration

if there is any blood or mucus in stool associated with fever we should consider dysentry. in such scenario antibiotics would be of help

take care

Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Your child is having gastroenteritis.
Usaually in gastroenteritis, vomitings will start first followed by loose motions.
Tha main problem of this is developing dehydration of the body.
So give sips of oral rehydrating solutions like ORS, Pedialytes, coconut water, lemon water and dal water after each loose stool and in between in equal amounts to the losses in stools to prevent dehydration.
Monitor her hydration by looking at her activity, tongue and oral cavity moisture, urine output.
Probiotic may be added like sporolac or econorm after consulting your Pediatrician for examination and assessment for hydration.
Hope I have answered your query.

Hi,
your child has most probably viral gastroenteritis.
the treatment for this is only replacing fluids by giving oral rehydration solution like electral or electrobion ( dissolved in clean water as per instructions in the sachet),frequently. Check that baby is passing urine as usual and is active. No need for any other medicines. Will improve in 4-5 days time
