Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Have his eyes checked with a pediatric ophthalmologist to see any need of glasses or his condition of retina and his optic nerve development. It will clear your doubts about the visualizing part of him.
Because he is not able to see things clearly ,may be he is not comfortable with the rest of the activities. Don't wait for him to grow up. A good refraction and a retinal examination will detect any early troublesome ocular manifestations and get treated earlier.
Let's hope for the best.
