Child. Fussiness With Fever. History Of Fall And Hitting Head Against Metal On Sofa Followed By Swelling And Little Bleeding. Fever Related To Head Injury?
Hi doctor. I am very worried about my son, he fell yesterday and hit his head on the metal of the bottom of a recliner (sofa) he was not walking he was crawling and slipt sideways to where he hit himself. He cried right after the hit, it got a little bit swollen and a bit of blood. He fell asleep about 20 min after, he slept through out the night. All today he acted normal until he started getting fussy that's when I noticed he had a fever. He has not been able to nap properly but other then the fever causing the fussiness he has acted normal. Do u think the fever is related to his head injury? Is it something serious? HELP PLEASE!
I would like to reassure you that your child's symptoms do not represent anything serious, and they are not related to the head injury.
The head injury appears to be mild, and is not likely to cause any symptoms other than mild headaches.
His current symptoms are most likely due to mild viral upper respiratory infection, which would resolve in a few days. If not, you may consult his paediatrician.
