hi Doctor i m poonam 24 yr old i have done my chet x ray in which inhomogeneous opacities are seen at lower lung zone with blunting of left costo phrenic angle-left pleural effusion with underlying collapse and consolidation.Homogeneou opacity is also seen at left apical region-?Pleural thickening/loculated effuion. Rest are clear can u plz guide me what is this. Thank U
Hi Poonam, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic, These X ray finding are suggestive of accumulation of fluid in pleural cavity which is present outside lungs. There are inhomogenous opacities in left lung there is strong possibility of Tuberculosis. You need to consult chest physician and a diagnostic aspiration of fluid can be done under ultrasonographic guidance and sent for investigation to know exact cause. Treatment depends on cause if it is tubercular it can be treated by antitubercular drugs for 6 to 8 months under the DOT therapy. Hope this helps Take care. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D
