Changes In Contraception, Recurring Bleeding. D And C Advised. Nur Isterate, Oralcon Ineffective. Suggestions?

good day

I am a 28 year old female with 4 kids, I have been on many different forms of contraception over the years, I always change in between having my kids, problem is that now after my fourth son was born I opted to go on nur isterate, iwas on it for a year or so and changed to triphasel then yaz then back to nuristerate and that's where the problems started. first time I went back on nur isterate after the pills 2 months ago the bleeding has not stopped, went to hospital and they gave me tablets that will stop the bleeding and put me on oralcon, now this is not helping, I am still bleeding, it will stop for 2 days and just start again and this has been going on for nearly 4 months, I was told I might have to do a D&C but I am too scared. I want to get a second opinion on what could be happening to my body pls help me as I didn't really worry about it initially but this is scaring me a lot, thanks

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi there ~

I understand your concern. It might be helpful to stop all medications and watch for a few days if the bleeding decreases. I also recommend that you consult a gynecologist who will do a complete pelvic examination after taking your entire history and order investigations and imaging which will reveal the cause of your problem. Please treat yourself with iron supplements to complement the blood loss, this is available over the counter. I also advise you to visit with a psychiatrist for anxiety issues surrounding your condition. I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
