Can Vitiligo Genetically Transmitted To Next Generation?

Hi, My father has Vitiligo, i'm 29 and didnt develop anything yet, and i have a child 4months old, he got a white spot around his genitals, what are the chances that he might get it from my dad, and what are the chances that i might also get in future? please advise.

Vitiligo can affect more than one member in a family.
Approximately 20% of individuals affected with vitiligo have a family member affected with it.
Having said that vitiligo is not a hereditary disease and most of the affected patients have no other family member involvement with it.
Therefore it remains to be seen whether any one of you will develop vitiligo or not.
The white patch in question could be vitiligo or it could be something else. I suggest you to get it examined by a dermatologist.
There are quite a lot differential diagnosis for a white patch in infants e.g nevus depigmentosus, nevus anemicus, post-inflammatory hypopigmentation etc
