Can Surgical Error Cause Pus Formation After Surgery For Ruptured Appendix?

wife went in with ruptchered appendix -did orthoscopic surgery- 2 days later had to cut her open due to compliacations and found large puss pocket and had to remove- now in critical care- was correct procedures followed with her system going into surgery?

Very good question.
The appendix was already ruptured as per your history. The ''laparoscopic'' (not Orthoscopic) route is now a well-settled procedure and hopefully the Surgeon must have taken all the care to clear the disease. But for some reason, if the infection is not well settled , pus pockets can form. And needs re-exploration, which must have been done.

Your wife is lucky to get an early diagnosis and swift treatment to re-open and clearance of the disease.

Obviously a correct procedure must have been followed by Your Surgeon.

Wishing your wife an early and uneventful post-operative period.
