Can Steroid Be Used For Constant Drainage From Sinus And Throat ?

I have constant drainage from my Sinius & my throat is red from the drainage, I have Mucos & trying to clear my throat, my my Pulmonary doc. prescribed Zetonna Nasal Aerosol, I m afraid to use it because it is a steroid, I know of someone who used steroid sprays & she got Kidney cancer, my daughter had complications to her eyes from sprays, could I have allergy tests & see what is causing this & do they give allergy shots without steroids, I m Diabetic & I m 79.

Your symptoms are suggestive of acute bacterial pharyngitis and sinusitis where the infection needs to be treated.
Steroid nasal sprays are just an adjucnts to the antibiotics , you need to consult an ent surgeon and get the examination done followed with a course of antibiotic.
steroids nasal sprays help in clearing the mucus and it is commonly use in nasal congestions and is safe in most of the cases.
as you have mentioned your family is allergic to steroids better to consult a physician before using it.
if the allergy is confimed , alternative medications can also be used to treat sinusitis.
